About the cemetery

The cemetery was consecrated in 1918. It is reasonable to assume that local Jews who passed away before that time were buried in locations such as Brixton Cemetery in Johannesburg, as well as in Kimberley and Klerksdorp. Rabbi Silberhaft is dedicated to maintaining this cemetery, along with many other small-town cemeteries. We should support his efforts to preserve these important community burial sites. Rabbi Silberhaft can be contacted at rabbi@sjca.org.za.
