Smukler
Abraham Isaac Smukler was born in Shavel (Siauliai) and was a tailor in Bloemhof. Abraham (son of Isaac) was 52 at the time of his death in 1938. His first wife Ethel Rebecca Smukler (nee Duke) passed away on 21 August 1931. They were living in Bloemhof at the time. Ethel or Etta was the daughter of Baruch and Rosie Duke. The family was from Skaudvilė in Lithuania. I have not found a South African wedding certificate or their passenger arrival details. I assume they were married in Lithuania and then moved to South Africa.
In 1932, he remarried. His second wife was Maria Johanna Christina Lewy. He was living in Bloemhof. In 1936 Abraham Isaac Smukler remarried to Leah Fuchs (nee Blumenfeld from Latvia), a widower from Latvia in Johannesburg. He was now in Wolmaransstad. I have not found her death certificate.
Smukler seems to have spent a great deal of time in Wolmaransstad. He was not only listed as residing there at the time of his second wedding, but his naturalization application was filed in 1919 from Wolmaransstad. He was a resident of the local Bloemhof nursing home at the time of his death on 5 February 1938. His death certificate lists three children: Bernard Jack, Reuben, and Dora. They were from his first marriage. The two younger children were minors at the time of his passing.
