Leone Levitas (1949-1958) died at the age of 9 and was buried in Bloemhof. The cause of death is listed as a cardiac arrest related to mongolism tonselectomy. She was the daughter of Michael Zondel (also Zundel) and Sylvie Levitas. Michael Zundel Levitas was a divorcee who re-married Syldia Urdang in 1946. From his marriage certificate, we learn that he was a general merchant and living in Bloemhof. At the time of his death 1961 - Levitas is listed as a farmer. Syliva died in Cape Town on 26 December 1972. We do not know the identity of his first wife. Michael and Sylvia had two sons - Malcolm and David.

 

His brother Samuel Levitas also lived in Bloemhof (where he married Maria Petronella Visagie) and later at Christiana (where he married Dora Fisher) uin 1950. Dora was born in London (13 November 1912) to Hyman Mark and Fanny Fisher. She migrated

to South Africa 1948. She served as Managing Director of Bloemhof Malt Manufacturers (Pty.) Ltd.
