Louis Aaronson (Aronsohn as per the death certificate) passed away on 10 August 1944 at the age of 65. He was a bachelor and is listed as having come from Lithuania. Chillingly, his death certificate notes that his parents and siblings were deceased. The children of the deceased sister (Sarah Rivka Aaronson) are listed as Solly Hackel (the Hackel family were from Libau) and Mascha Goldsohn (spelling not clear). There is a reference to a half-sister who had a child named Sarah Super (daughter of Aaron Abrahamson), who married Samuel Elias Super of Rustenburg in 1929. There is also reference to a deceased brother, who had a son, Jack Samuel Aaronson (1914-1945), and a daughter, Rachel Mann (living in Potchefstroom, who married David Grierson in 1905). They were the children of Harry Aronsohn (1878-1918) and Betsy (nee Lewin). From his estate, we glean that Harry was from Skud/ Shkud in Lithuania. Jacob Samuel was born in Grahamstown.

 

The nephew who signed the death certificate was Solly (Solomon) Hackel.
