Beefmasters

This section looks at the Jewish farmers and speculators.

 

Vryburg was the Texas of South Africa and, as such, many local and out of town Jews were engaged in activities related to the beef industry, as speculators and farmers. As we saw in the previous section, others were involved in trade of hides and skins, the making of cattle feed (Bechuanaland Malt and Milling) and even the Double Crown Soap factory was based on the beef industry - using cattle fat. I also look at farm life.
