Beefmasters

This section looks at the Jewish farmers and speculators.

 

Vryburg was the Texas of South Africa, and as such, many local and out-of-town Jews were involved in activities related to the beef industry, such as as traders and farmers. As we saw in the previous section, others participated in the trade of hides and skins, the production of cattle feed (Bechuanaland Malt and Milling), and even the Double Crown Soap factory was based on the beef industry—using cattle fat. I also look at farm life.
