Blumberg, David and Joseph
Brothers David and Joseph (Faive Josse), made their way to Vryburg joining the Lieberthal-Friedman clan. Both owned Jewelry stores on Market Street. Sdavid's store was oppsite the Grand Hotel and nect to the Central Hotel. Also on Market Street, ging towards Barclays Bank and the Post Office, Jospeh set up shop. Isaac Mendel Blumberg, from Talsen, traveled to South Africa with Simon Lieberthal and Lewin (Oupa) Freidman and applied for citizenship together with them. Isaac Mendel passed away in 1947 in Carnarvon. He was a bachelor and a speculator by profession. His sister Bella was married to Harry Traub.
David and Joseph were, initially, in partnership, Joseph joined his older brother. Later, they went their separate ways. They were also joined in Vryburg by their sister Leah. The three siblings (of nine), were the children of Moses and Betty (Neha Basssia) Immerman. Betty was related to the Immerman family, which also spent time in Vryburg. David was the oldest of the Blumberg children. He was born in 1897 and he left for South Africa in 1921. Joseph came in 1927. Lea, who married Maurice David Toube, moved to Vryburg after he passed away in 1946. She also reached South Africa in 1921. Their brother Abraham (known as Landsie) tragically passed away in 1932 in Postmasburg.

In 1938 Joseph (Spider) Blumberg married Lilly Edelstein, the daughter of Louis and Rosa (nee Goldstuck) Edelstein from Warrenton. Louis is buried in Vryburg and his bachelor brother, Morris, farmed in the district. They never had children and later moved to Port Elizabeth and then Bloemfontein, where Lilly had family.
David married Sonia Voronov whose family were from Samara. They were wed in 1921 in Berlin. The two travelled to South Africa. They met in Samara after the Blumberg family (along with the Jews of Talsen) were expelled in 1914/5. The family later returned to Talsen. Sonia and David left for Klerksdorp in 1935. David and Sonia had two sons, Harry and Norman. Both were born in Vryburg - Harry was born in 1922 and Norman in 1927. Leah Blumberg later married Israel (Lolly) Friedman in 1948.
